Hi guys, my new Radeon HD 4850 is not detecting my monitors native resolution (1440x900). -My computer in the past knows its 1440x900 so the monitor works -I tried updating to the newest drivers, but I cannot find any on the web, so I am using the one off the disk. ---Originally I had vista, and it was able to see that it was 1440x900, but then vista was getting buggy and after a restart, it went back to a 'default monitor', then I put a fresh copy of XP on it and it still cannot detect the monitor -Device manager says 'default monitor' -Updated the BIOS and motherboard software -Monitor is a Acer "AL 1916W" -XP has all updates including SP3 I'm thinking it has to do with either a setting or a driver on the mother board or video card, but both are updated. HELP! My resolution is horrible to the eyes on my wide screen monitor!
Download Catalyst 8.6 from the ATI website. I know the 4850 isn't in the list, but for stuff younger than about 5 years old, every card links to the same page, so just tell it you have a 3870 or something.
Downloading now, thank you, also I just went to their site, and today they updated it to 8.7 + they include the 4850 on the main page. I hope this works because this resolution thing is killing my eyes!
