are there any programs out there besides winmpg that can convert other formats to avi? because if you just have demo of winmpg it burns that stupid thing on the video you convert. so if there is any other conversion software out there that converts other stuff to avi that would be great.

What 'others formats' are you interested in? For example, I believe VirtualDubMod will read in MPEG1 and MPEG2 if that helps. Let us know what formats you are interested in - you might need several programs.

well i made the movie using windows movie maker. i used that tmpgenc thing to turn it into mpeg 2. winmpg is easier but i don't have it registered so it leaves a stupid thing in the middle of the screen. i want to turn it straight from the windows movie maker format. which is i guess just mpeg 2. it says avi on the icon but whatever. so how do i get that file to avi, then to .vob or a format able to burn from nero dvd?

Once you've converted it to MPEG2 then you need to author a DVD. This will make .VOB and other files to tell the DVD player what to do. Some popular programs for making this process simple are TMG DVD Author and DVD-lab. They will take your MPEG2 file and create a VIDEO_TS directory that you can then use Nero, Easy CD Creator 6, etc to burn... DVD-lab has a built-in burner. Read up on DVD authoring programs - there are many guides and tutorials around for using various programs for this purpose.
