I have a large dvd colection however room is becoming an issue, what i am wanting to do is copy these dvd's to a format that is 700mb instead of 4.7gb then i want to store all my movies and shows on a terabyte hard drive for easy transportation any ideas????????????? I need a good simple program which im prepared to buy if necessary that is easy to use as i am new to computers .. any assistance is greatly appreciated thanks Megs8888.
Why 700MB's if you are just storing on HDD's? The only way to get decent quality @ 700MB's is to do a 2 pass encode. Instead I'd suggest a single pass encode, that way you save time. I'd also suggest Xvid over DivX. It's free and there are plenty of free encoding frontends, scripts, etc. You could also go with x264 which is slower, but more efficient.
