Mods please move this to the appropriate location. It covers different subjects so I didn't know where to place it.

I recently purchased am ATI All in Wonder 2006 edition video/TV Tuner card. What I want to do is record shows with the TV Tuner and edit out the commercials then archive them to DVD. So the end result would be files similar to what you can download through Bittorrent.

The problem is that I have not been able to find a suitable software package to do this. I have tried Pinnacle Studio 9 (included with tuner card), muvee autoproducer (also included with tuner card) Showbiz DVD 2 (came with my DVD burner), and a few other programs.

What I am looking for is a guide to doing this. I am sure someone has already made one but I have yet to be find one.

Adobe Premiere Pro is a full-blown, professional editor, but is probably overkill just for editing out commercials. It can burn directly to DVD which is nice though, but it doesn cost ~$500.

Thanks I have also looked at Adobe Premiere Pro. You're right I think it is overkill. I am currently trying Womble MPEG Video Wizard, but it costs $99, a little more than I was looking to spend.

I beleive Sony has an editing program (Vegas Video I think) and though I have not used it I know people who have had good luck with it. I think its only around $100
