Hey, I'm totally new to the whole idea of firmware/flashing updates--is that even the term? Anyway, is there a site or a how-to thread that explains exactly all the benefits of firmware AND what the process is? That looks like a good site .. or you could go here: http://www.liteonamericas.com/us/download.htm Firmware is very easy to upgrade .. just follow along when you download it and you'll be ok. Make sure that you have all other programs closed and that nothing will interrupt the process. The majority of firmware updates involve the drive's compatibily to write to the newed media (ie 16x) Even if your drive isn't a 16x drive, it needs to be able to recognize 16x media to be able to effectively write to it at any speed.
