You might have to troubleshoot a little bit it sounds like your setup is alright... I would try to ping 127.0.0.1, that's a default loopback address. It'll tell you if your ethernet card is functioning properly. The first NIC I connected in my computer was faulty and gave me many problems before I realized that it was the problem. Good luck

are you using a router? i'm wondering where you got the 192.168.x.x from? if you are, just connect the xbox to the router and go in that way.

I got mine to work pretty easy. Don't bother trying to ping the xbox, it won't reply. Best thing to do is to put our xbox in the same segment as your PC.

For example, my PC is using a static IP of 10.10.32.4 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and an empty gateway.

My xbox is using 10.10.32.5 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and an empty gateway.

Since you cannot change the settings on your xbox, you need to change it on your PC. Just replicate everything that is on your xbox (ip address, subnet mask) except the 4th part of the IP address.

Recommeneded ftp program to use is flash fxp. Also check within your evox dashboard if it detects your NIC connection. It should tell you if the cable is disconnected or if it is connected and at what speed (10/100). It should also tell you your IP settings of your xbox.

When you try ftping to your xbox, try using the id/password xbox/xbox or just xbox with no password. The password is in the ini file, so your friend should know what it is. Hopefully, he didn't change it from the default.
