Hi, I was given an ipod and nothing else, no software etc, I downloaded the software and it says can't mount. Also the ipod shows the exclamation mark, I have tied everything I am supposed to do but to no avial, also it is still under warranty, so I sent it back to apple, who have just returned it saying, they wil not fix it cos it has been damaged by misuse. So is there anyway of fixing it, or do I just throw it away??. Thanks Laura
mount?...are you using Linux or windows XP? - setting up the software on anything other than a mac or xp can be very tricky, though I do have some experience with other OS's. To reset the Ipod mini hold down the centre button and the top menu button for 10 seconds or until the apple logo appears - this will not wipe your songs To reinstall the software you need the downloaded packages from apple, this is the only way to upgrade/reinstall the firmware that I know of.
