Ok,I've tried two cables, reinstalled windows twice, and even installed windows and mpt on another hard drive. When I first got the kit, I installed from the CD, version 3.11 and when it asked to detect the phone I canceled and did the live update over the internet first. I downloaded an Adobe Acrobat file someone made that described the steps. It can be found at motomodders.com .
It worked for a while. I was able to copy over a few pictures and midi files. But dummy me erased much of those, believing they could be put back on.
Earlier today the 'audio' and 'video' folders on the phone side popped up in the explorer for some reason.
So, 1. It's not the cable
    2. I can still synchronize so it shouldn't be the phone
    3. It's not the software(tried with both versions, before and after upgrade.)
If it's not USB related probably since I'm running win98se, I'm lost.

I hope I've somehow given a little insight to our problem. Oh yeah, try getting rid of or disabling the modem.

Right now I'm working with disabling COM ports in the BIOS settings and removing them from the device manager to see what happens.
Use this to find what is using the COM ports etc.

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSINFO\MSINFO32.EXE"
