    I have an EMachines T1840.
I replaced the power supply in like early 2006ish.
I upgraded the ram from 128MB to 1Gig earlier this year.
I replaced the stock 40GB HD with a Hitachi Deskstar about a week ago.
I just started using it again the day i got the new HD a week ago.
It was working fine but in the last three days it's had these symptoms:

    No monitor signal/input
Green LED around power button doesn't light up
    HD Busy Doesn't light up
DVD & CD Drive lights light up

But you can hear power supply fan running.

I've looked at other website and they all ditch the pc or get a new motherboard for it. I've picked out a MB already because i plan on buy one, but I want to hear what you guys have to say. Plus if I put this MB into the PC will the emachines xp install disc work with the board?

B.T.W.- This is the board I plan on gettting:

Herbsman edit: signature is excessive , please sort it out as soon as you can & read the forum rules if in doubt as to what is considered exceeding reasonable limits!

Um... Your signature is VAST. Time for a cleanup! lol

Before taking the plunge on a new motherboard, check your RAM isn't faulty. If you have multiple sticks try powering up the system with just one, then just the other.

Will be sending a P.M to make sure there's not lots of posts w/ that massive signature.

Your signature is still non-regulation. It must be 50KB or smaller, yours is currently 217KB.

    Did you try this:

Yes, server space would be immaterial - but some people still browse aD on dialup modems or on their phones, and as such these signatures take ages to download and force them to wait before they can see the messages posted. Forum rules exist for a reason.

    yours is 222,712 bytes.
    2. An image-only signature should be less than 50kb in size, and be at most 500 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall.
