I recently purchased an R4 and a MicroSD card (2GB), however, when I try to attach the MicroSD card to the USB stick, it won't appear in the computer. The USB stick shows up, but it says "Please insert disk." The R4 cartridge itself recognizes the SD card (although obviously it won't play with no files on it), but the computer won't. I've done some looking around and found out I have to "format" the card. If that's the solution, how do I do so?

could be that the card reader that came with your r4ds is faulty .

having bought at least 30 r4ds for friends and family i noticed that sometimes the card reader worked fine and other times it wouldnt work at all , very probably because they are so cheaply made .

have you another card reader you could try ? i bought myself a good brand of multi card reader from the local pc shop and was only about £10 .

getting back to formatting your memory its very simple mate -

put your memory in your card reader ( making sure your card reader works ! )

right click on it and select format ( you can choose fat or fat32 it dosent matter )

    thats it memory formatted .

then add the r4ds firmware to your memory card latest English version can be found here - http://www.r4ds.com/soft/24-en.htm

once downloaded unrar it and copy the 2 files and 2 folders to your memroy card , thats it firmware done .

anymore probs just let me know , ive set up that many r4ds i can prob do it in my sleep , woof811.
