Just get this player. It is a open box item, but also the last I can find in the bestbuy store near my place. CC is out of stock. I tested with BD disc rent from Netflix, it is so surprise to see so many mosaic in the picture. did I do something wrong with the display setting or because it has problem with the player? well, just got back from BB. Unfortunately, can only get the last one and it is still "open box". and I could not find in any retail store here at all! Amazing! I asked the technician to test it for me, seems like everything is fine. Will give a final shot before I go ahead to order from amazon.com (seems overpriced?). will try with the dark knight tonight, if still not working, will give up and buy from amazon. BTW, I saw there is a service order inside the box says symptom was "can't play one tittle, prompt for firmware update but once connect LAN, refuse firmware update etc.. But the technician told me they did not find any problem at all.. Trust them one more time That was quite a journey for my 1st BD player though. Thanks again.
Note the Panasonic is the latest generation of their BD drives. I just love this DMP-BD35!! still working on setting everything up, but the trial playing already enveloped me and my wife. 1. another question is: when I go to set up, it say on the screen: latestt firmware available. should I go ahead to update? Because I heard people updated their PS3 firmware, they won't be able to see any ripped BD-5 or BD-9 any more? what's your suggestion? 2. also, I am trying to copy some AVCHD format movie to my 32GB SDHC and play, based on your experience, what kind of format it will support?

MysticE, thanks for your post. I have another question. today I burned my first HD DVD-9 disc but was failed. what I did was: 1. 3 m2ts source files for a movie downloaded from web. 2. TSmuxer add three files and creating blue-ray disc. 3. use nero8 to burn UDF2.5 DVD-9 disc. 4. after burning, I tried on panasonic BD35. it can reganize the DVD9, read and read, nothing showed up, finally stop show on the screen. press play, still no play. Do you have any idea? BTW, after muxing, it created two file folders, one is BDMV folder, one if called certificate, I only burned the BDMV folder the disc since certificate folder is empty. is this the reason? thanks, Joe
