I just converted a movie from AVI to DVD and now I am trying to use nero recode CE to fit it onto a DVD-5. I dont know what I am doing wrong but I have created 2 disks so far that will not play in my dvd player. When I look on the dvd there is only 1 mp4 file. Can someone give me a step by step of how to use nero recode CE? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

And I also read about checking off the "Advanced analisis" tab. I cant seem to find it anywhere, only an expert mode tab that allowes me to set it to high quality and extra quality or something like that.

    Hi jeffmaher
You need to use 'recode main to dvd' or 'compile a dvd' in Recode. The option your using is Recode digital and will create a mpeg4 file - great for iPod's and PSP's but not all dvd players support that format.

    Here's a guide for Recode - link

Ok I'll give that a try. Thanks for the advice. One more thing tho. I was dont have the options to select "advanced analisis" under burn settings? All I have the option to do is select burn speed and number of copies? Could this be the version I am using (Nero Recode 2 CE)?

Hmmm you should have the advanced analysis option picking one of the 1st 3 choices in Recode.
Picking the last 2 which are Nero Digital you'll only have the write speed option and number of copies.
Check under one of the 1st 3 options of Recode - the option should be there - it's under the burn at once option.

Ok thanks I will check that out. One last thing tho. I only have the option for 2channel dobly digital and not 5.1? Any ideas on why that might be?

Ok I got everything to work fine. I just burned a dvd and it turned out great. The only thing it did not do was create the menu that I created in Nero Vision. How do I make Nero Recode keep the menu that I created in Vision? Oh and 5.1 is still not avaliable but I think that is because I did not select it in nero vision? I could only select 2ch digital.

Sorry about that - I left one option in Recode off my previous post - to include the menu use the 1st option in Recode 'recode an entire dvd to dvd'. Using that option in Recode will keep the menus.

If you're using Nero 6 - Vision doesn't have the 5.1 audio option but Nero 7 does. To change it in Vision go to 'more'>'video options'>'dvd-video' tab. Under audio format you can pick 5.1 there.

Ok. Thanks alot bro. I appreciate all the help. I assume that when you select the first option in recode "entire dvd" you dont get the option to trim? If not that if fine, I would rather have the menus. Thanks again.

You got it - that's the only option in Recode that doesn't have the trim feature - the others do.

In the opening screen of Nero Recode 2 CE the only options I see are: "Recode Main Movie to Nero Digital" and "Recode DVD's and Videos to Nero Digital." How do you get the option to recode main to dvd?

    Thanks!

Which version of Nero are you running? Are you using the full version or an Essentials/OEM version?

    Nero Recode CE (NeroDigital_RC-2.2.6.17c)

I'm thinking this is only setup to do MPEG-4's...

Yeah I'm thinking the same thing. This is the standalone Recode.
You can also try the free trial of Nero to get the other options too - see if you like it - link
