Please help I bought my laptop on holiday in America in a
QVC outlet shop. I have this folder called Gerri Wilbanks which I cant remove. This guy must have had the laptop for a brief period.

The folder is in C:Documents and Settings/Gerri Wilbanks, when I try to delete it or rename it I get the following message.

"Gerri Wilbanks is a Windows system folder and is required for Windows to run properly. It cannot be moved or renamed."

Can I get of this folder?

Let me check on this one. I thought you could change it in user accts, but, no. It's been a while since I been thought to look at the folder, I think it is named at installation. I'll get back to you if someone else doesn't.

Regedit and changing system folders can be tricky. If you don't feel comfortable with that. Just go to, start, control panel, user accts, then you should see the guys name. You can change the name, picture, password. Make sure you are editing the owner folder. There should be two or three accts. Owner, "administrator, only in safe mode," guest, maybe an asp.net acct. You can delete asp, and turn off guest. Xp is an improvement over 98, but it is very sensitive to changes to system folder names. I've never heard of the documents/settings/owner folder, being anything but that.
