The best information on streaming media recording.

    Play a video.
    Example:
    Saudi Rulers Vow Crackdown.
    http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/video...di$@$Rulers$@$Vow$@$Crackdown&hitboxMLC=world

When video plays, right click on video and select Play in RealOne Player.
When video plays in Realone Player press Ctrl + I to open the Clip Info window.
In the Clip Info window on either the Clip or File tab you will find a redirector URL.

    http://video.cgi.cbs.com/video/video.pl?url=/media/2003/11/10/video582801.rm&sid=202

Highlight that redirector URL and press Ctrl + C to copy URL.
Paste redirector URL into Internet Explorer Address bar.
Type view-source: in front of redirector URL.

    view-source:http://video.cgi.cbs.com/video/video.pl?url=/media/2003/11/10/video582801.rm&sid=202

    Press Enter.
A Notepad window will open showing the source code of the redirector.
That source code will contain the stream URL.

Use the stream URL for downloading with StreamBox VCR.

Hi, good job but I don't use RealOne, I stuck with version 8 plus because RealOne is a big pain in the ass with all the hidden files that tries to break my firewall among other problems.

Anyhow that clip url you pasted was for another clip. I still cannot seem to get to the other clip for What's Happening.

    Actually I did exactly what you said to do. But upon looking in notepad all I could find was this>> var videofile = "rtsp://real.cbsig.net/broadcast/*/livenews" + castNum + ".rm";

It's like javascript or something. I got this far before but could not identify the clip url.

    Play a video.
    Example:
    Whats Happening.
    http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/video...shappening.rm&title=Bryant$@$Gumbel$@$Reports

When video plays, right click on video and select Play in RealOne Player.
When video plays in Realone Player press Ctrl + I to open the Clip Info window.
In the Clip Info window on either the Clip or File tab you will find a redirector URL.

    http://cgi.cbs.com/video/video.pl?url=/media/2001/02/20/gumbel_cbs_whatshappeningl.rm

Highlight that redirector URL and press Ctrl + C to copy URL.
Paste redirector URL into Internet Explorer Address bar.
Type view-source: in front of redirector URL.

    view-source:http://cgi.cbs.com/video/video.pl?url=/media/2001/02/20/gumbel_cbs_whatshappeningl.rm

    Press Enter.
A Notepad window will open showing the source code of the redirector.
That source code will contain the stream URL.

    rtsp://real.cbsig.net/cbsnews/2001/02/20/gumbel_cbs_whatshappeningl.rm

Use the stream URL for downloading with StreamBox VCR

Another method using any version of Real Player, is to disconnect from the internet while the video is playing in the embedded player.
After a while an error window will open showing a redirector or stream URL. In this case it will show the stream URL.

    rtsp://real.cbsig.net/cbsnews/2001/02/20/gumbel_cbs_whatshappeningl.rm

Another method that many people use is URL Snooper or Packet Sniffer software.
