feel free to direct me to a corrct forum if it shouldnt be here.

Have UPC broadband, phone and digital tv package. all working fine, but only paying for one tv point.

wondering if i can split the feed into the broadband router into 2 i.e broadband and digital tv off same connection.

    thanks in advance

you can split the cable alright, but you will only get analogue, unless ya have another box from upc to connect to it

An F-Splitter should do the trick perfectly. You will obviously need two extra cables and, if you are going for Analogue, you would also need an F connector to coaxial. All available in maplin for a few quid.

had tried peats in rathmines but got no joy there. will try maplins when in town. have the F connector to normal coax head cable already.

are there different type of F type splitters or do the maplins staff generally knoww aht they are selling rather than I annoying you good people

Just tell maplins you want a F splitter for cable tv.

But yes it will reduce the signal, but its digital so either it will work fine or you get nothing, depends on how good your original signal is, im guessing its already split between the tv and modem, so your going to split it twice that means the modem/tv only getting 1/4 of signal.

Thats one benefit of having UPC install it, if your signal isnt strong enough to split they can boost it from outside.
