i have XBMC and have been trying to set up smb sharing with my pc for weeks and after following every guide i can find all i get after following each one is enter username and password i've tryed entering xbox/xbox, xbox/password, acount username/acount password and it still won't let me in. so if someone could give me some tips on how they did it or give me a working guide i'd be really grateful.

and my other question is how do i set up my xbox so i can use the download skins option in unleash x because every time i choose it i get "HTTP ERROR unable to retrieve HTTP STATUS 11002" i have by xbox connected to my pc and have FTP access.

you could always use WORKGROUPS...since whatever folders that are shared on the pc network will show up in this bookmark....that might be the easiest way.

There is a way to rout your box through your pc by sharing the internet conection with the second NIC and then use a static IP on the second IP and configure your xbox to that conection. In short, turn your second NIC into a 1 port router.

as long as you can network to your xbox with xbmc running,it is set up. No need to configure anything else. It searches the network for WORKGROUPS the same way that linux can see them. If you have to right click your 'my computer' and check 'computer name' to make sure it's named workgroup...though I don't think this matters. Mainly if you can connect to your xbox with your dashboard running, just go into the settings in XBMC and make the IP 'same as dashboard' and it should be set. Then share a folder in your pc and it should show up in the bookmark.

It should go through a few folders before it gets to the shares....like WORKGROUPS/COMPUTER NAME/SHARES or something like that. If this still doesn't work, try getting the newest XBMC and try that.

ALSO.if you get that running, while XBMC is running on your box you can kinda control it from your PC by using the built in web server. Just goto your pc browser (firefox works awesome) and type in http://xbox:xbox@yourxboxIPaddress

The XBMC GUI should now be in your browser letting you play your videos/music/pics on your xbox from your pc.
