Help! Your Computer is Infected! message in the system tray.

I just started getting this message in the system tray that says Your Computer is Infected! If I click it asks me if I would like to update your security sfotware and download Registry Cleaner? I click No, but do not want to do anything else until someone can guide me through the process of getting rid of the virus. Any help would be appreciated.
