I just received my Ritek/ RiData 4x DVD-R from Rima dot com. I was told that these were the G04'S. The ? is that it took an hour to burn a movie. When I started the process, using RecordNow Max The 5 second count down to begin burning indicated that it was at 4X. 45 mins later when I returned the process was still going. It just finished at an hour. Is there a way to manually set the burn speed, or does the program read the DVD-R and burn at the appropriate speed. I have already upgraded the firmware for my Sony. Is this a bad batch of DVD-R's? the disk is # H4-6L19307067478C02. It seems to play ok-haven't checked on stand alone yet. Also, can I write on the non-dye side. Other dvd-r's it was obvious that i could but these look almost as good as the other side.
Just did another test run to see if it was a glitch. I watched the meter on RecordNow Max as the 5 second countdown started. After the process was 5% in, at 14 mins remaining, it then switched and it read that there was 58 mins remaining. In other words, it seems like the burn speed went from 4X to 1X. Why is that? I know it's going to be a pain in the... contacting Rima and shipping back the remaining DVD-R's. Plus the shipping cost. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Tried another test to see if I could isolate the problem. I backed up another movie and I used my last 2X TDK DVD-R. The movie was done in 30 mins-no switching of burn speeds or anything. Am I to assume that the Ridek G04 that I have are the problem? DMA is enabled. I upgraded the Recordnow Max 4.5 to the PX Engine 408. The Riteks start at 4X and then go to 1X. Should I manually change the speed from Max to 4X? I can't keep testing because I probobly will send these back-can't expect a refund if I only send 1/2 the batch I order-HELP!!!!__X_X_X_X_X_[small]Silent Assasin[/small]
