hi im new to the dvd burning world and this looked like a friendly community so i thought i would give it a try. for starters i have a 2.4 pent4, radeon 9600, and 384ish mgs of ram. i just got a pacific digital 4x dual format burner with dvd x copy gold to boot. i used to think i knew what i needed to know about comps but this expirence has taught me i dont. i know nobody wants to spend a whole day showing the newbie the ropes so if u could split the task up that would be great i have 25 dvd-r disks to fool with and many dvds (of which i have the legitimate copy) and i would like to make some...backups...of, so whats the best way, what format disks for most universal-ness, i would like good quality, only having to use 1 disk would be nice, basically any help would be appreciated thanx, trojan-dud
you have 2 options to try to get single disc backups: 1. use dvd xcopyxpress (I think it comes with gold). If you have questions about it, I would go to the xcopy forum on afterdawn: http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com/ 2. Go another route. The simpler and cheaper route is to use dvd shrink to rip and compress. It is free!!!!. Then you will need to have a burning program. The best are nero, recordnow, and clonedvd. Check out these sites. http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/user_guides.htm http://www.dvdshrink.info/
I'm adding one of my favorite sites: http://www.doom9.org in the guides section doom9 has numerous ways to backup dvds using many different programs(though, since it is fairly intuitive and simple, dvdxcopy, in any of its forms, is excluded from their numerous guides) As a side note, my comp has almost the exact specs, P4 2.4 Ghz, radeon 9600, and a 4X dvd±r burner
well thank you for the info 1 more question, i want to burn the dvds so they can play on my stand alone dvd player...i now have plus and minus disks at my disposal and i have burnt matrix reloaded both ways neith of them working on the stand alone, what am i doing wrong. i use dvd express
