well you would have to know for sure before you tried using something like Slayer 2.7, If it can even load a blank disc at this point. Because if you use slayer, reformat, then install everything you will be back yo new again, try this with a softmod and you will be very sorry.
Also if you had a mod chip you could just take that hard drive out and stick another, larger hard drive in and use slayer to set it up.

With softmod you will have to do a hotswap with the PC and rebuilt it that way.

If you can FTP you can get the needed EEPROM file and things like your game saves, then use XboxHDM to rebuilt the drive with the PC

so pretty much anything you can do really depends on how it is modded.

Sounds like you've got a chip, I can't be of help with that, but it definitely sounds like a chip to me. Softmods tend to have more 'error code' screens as problems.

Xecuter is a brand of modchip, and a good one at that. So that will help you a lot in recovering. If you were softmodded it is a pain.

Ok, a few more questions (sorry, want to make sure i give you accurate info)
    1. can you play any burned discs?
    2. are you able to FTP into the Xbox?
(#1 is more important then #2 for sure)

My suggestion is to FTP the Udata and Tdata folders that will be either on your E: or F: partition (depending on how they set it up) to your PC if at all possible. That is where your game saves are.
If you can not FTP then try this. Download Slayer 2.7 from isohunt and then use Winrar to extract the first rar file (like slayer.001 or something like that). Burn the ISO you get to a good quality DVD-R and then put it into the Xbox. reboot the Xbox and Slayer should load. With this you can reinstall the EvoX dash and i think the MS Dash as well. after that reboot and see if it works. If so you do not need to do anything else, but for the future you should set up the FTP connection and FTP the C: and E: or F: (whichever your programs are on) to the PC and store them there.

worst case is you would use Slayer to format the drive, then to reinstall everythhing and just start from scratch.
