Hope I'm not bothering anyone and that someone can/will take the time to help me....

I've ripped DVDS to my Ext HD. Can I now convert these to another format to view directly from my HD? .avi? .wmv? DivX?

It doesn't need to be converted to any other format unless you wish to conserve space, as the whole DVD is indeed pretty big.

As long as you have a DVD playing program on your computer, you can play right from those files.

Go to the directory you extracted the DVD to, there should be a VIDEO_TS folder in it. Double click the file VTS_01_1.vob and that will play from the beginning and your DVD player should understand the rest from there.

But as far as converting to avi, not sure how to do so, so hopefully someone smarter than me can post that answer.

Ok... thx for the post. :)

Playing around with AutoGK right now to see if that will work to make the file smaller at least.

But after reading your post... prolly will just do that... as I'll more than likely delete them right after I watch'em.
