Hey guys. I'm new to the forums. I am also new to cd burning/downloading/music file formats etc etc. I was wondering if you guys could help me with a few questions I have. I just had a CD player installed in my car that can operate a Ipod from the deck. There is a special adapter I can get for it that will send the information back and forth to the ipod and also keep the ipod charged. Sort of like a CD changer without the CDs(I think). I have not bought the Ipod yet. I am Running windows XP sp2. I have already installed EAC on my pc(with the additional files and settings Chris recommended). I also have Nero(It came with my burner). I want to save my entire music collection on my computer. I would like to be able to swap files between the Ipod and the PC from time to time. Ok now my questions =) 1) What file format should I be saving my music files onto my computer as? I think mp3 due to what I have read about the "Ipod". 2) Can WMA files be made into mp3 files using EAC? 3) Should I use EAC to make my mp3 files or will WMP10 work the same? 4)I downloaded some music from the windows media player music site last night. It says it is Windows Media(TM) Audio. I can't seem to be able to play it in my other players(nero etc). Is this normal? 5.)Where is the best place to DL music from since I'm going to be using an Ipod soon. Thanks a ton guys for any suggestions.
1) As your using an Ipod stick to mp3. 2) No. Don't even bother converting WMA to MP3 as quality is lost. 3) Use EAC. It is 100x better than WMP. Look around for a detailed explanation as to why. 4) It's probably got DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection on it. There is a way to bypass this $hitty protection. Search on this forum for it. 5) Legally, Napster, Itunes, www.allofmp3.com Illegally (well just look for yourself and see what P2P application you want to use. Hope this helps.
