Download SmitfraudFix.zip to the desktop from here * Extract the files to the desktop. [bold]Note[/bold]: Print or copy these instructions to Notepad and save them. You will be in safe mode and can't access the internet. * Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually) * Open the SmitFruadFix folder. * Double-click smitfraudfix.cmd * Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files. * You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection. * The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file. * A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt. Restart in normal mode. HijackThis is running from a temp folder. D:\DOCUME~1\Chris\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX00.062\HijackThis.exe When HjT is in running from a temp folder and you fix an entry a backup cannot be created. Please create a folder for HijackThis and unzip(extract) the file from the zip folder to the permanent folder. Then, open HijackThis. Click "Open the Misc Tools section". Click on "Open uninstall manager". Click "Save list". Notepad will open with the list. It will be saved in the HijackThis folder. Post back with the contents of rapport.txt, the uninstall list and a new HijackThis scan log.
