this is an interesting situation. prior to reformatting, i created quite a few dvd's from non-dvd files on my computer (using the previous major version of nero stuff). i then reformatted and also saw the new update was out, so i downloaded that. i'm not sure if something is just going weird since the reformatting or what, or maybe it's an issue that can be resolved because others are having it... basically, i've tried making quite a few dvd's from non-dvd files. the transcoding process occurs, and nero tells me that it's all done transcoding (i only write to hard drive, not burn). so i then open nero up to burn it and see that it's only like 3.3 gigs as opposed to 4.3...hmmm indeed. so i open it up and see that the last 40 minutes or so are not present... so, in short, nero stops transcoding early for some unknown reason...help?
I'm having a similar problem with Nero Vision Express freezing up while transcoding. I recently updated Nero and now I cannot burn a DVD. It always freezes while "Preparing Menu 3 for transcoding". I think my dvd only has one menu. Go figure. I tried rolling back to an old version of Nero Vision Express, but no dice. Anyone know what's up?
I too have similar problems with nero, latest version, starts to transcode-timer counts down, no reading on progress bar, seems to do this with xvid files (very popular for downloads), have had problem with vcd too, no menu-fixed that by selecting bitmap pictures for backgroung settings, any info would be appreciated, Craig.
You shouldn"t be useing Nero Vision Express to Encode anyways because it is one of the Worst Quality mpeg encoders ever created... If you used a High Quality Standalone Encoder you could get twice the Video on a DVD and with better quality than Vision Express ever could produce... Plus Vision express is Such a "Mickey Mouse" Program, not only because it"s encoder sucks Badly but also because even if your Source files are allready 100% DVD Compliant "Vision Express" will Still re-encode the File and ruin the Quality....
so what program would you suggest to encode then? i personally would like something that could say take 5 separate files (episodes) and turn them into one dvd, which nerovision can do...
if i have dvd ready diles to put on disk i will use one of Nero6's other programs to burn it directly, i have tried various other avi to dvd, vcd, and svcd programs but they are not as easy or clear to use as Nero, the problem with nero is it is very slow, or is it my 'puter?
After dealing with the same problem all nite and reformating my HDD 4 times I figured out the problem. It's in using the Divx Codec 5.2. I removed this and watched the program do convert the whole file. The bad thing is that w/o a codec, it looked like crap. So I was lucky enough to look through my files and disks and found a 5.1 Divx Codec. I'm using it now and it seems to be working good. I will up date this threat as soon as the outcome is shown. Dunno who created the bug, if Nero or Divx. The bad thing is that I can't run the newest 5.2 codec.
Also what are your specs. I used to have an MSi Kt600 mobo with AMD xp2500 before and I think I was able to run both Nero Visionexpress(older version) with the new 5.2 codec. This is the downside to PC's any lil 3rd party software can cause a major havic. Something as minute as an audio driver or a plug in can set you pc in array. It might be the drivers in our mobo.
Hi Everyone, Sorry for taking so long to respond to this thread. To be honest, I did not see it till today. It's hard to find the time to go through all the threads, and when I do I sometimes go too quickly and miss a number of them. NVE should not be reencoding compliant MPEG-2 files as of our latest version. Only those sections where you make changes using our software. Those who are having trouble, if you could provide the version of NVE you are using, your CPU and RAMM capabilities, and a list of any codecs on your system it would help me greatly in trying to resolve your issue, or at least duplicating it. As mentioned by boylondon, there are a number of variables on any system that can cause conflicts with any DVD Authoring software, and what affects one program may not affect another. I personally have had better results with files created with DivX 5.1 than the latest DivX 5.2, especially when it comes to low bitrates. Regards, Craig
Nero Visionexpress has compability issues with Divx 5.2 At least that's the only conclusion I can come to. I went ahead and installed 5.1 and it work perfectly.
ccampbell- p4 2.4ghz 400fsb 1024mb corsair ddr3200 ram codecs- nimo lite pak ffdshow divx 5.1 xvid etc, etc... anyway, i've gotten some mpg/avi2dvd conversions to work, but for instance one of them is something that is episodic and subtitled...and it did get burned, but as you get farther into the disc, the subtitles start dropping farther and farther down the screen...and another episodic thing i tried burning just fails when i try burning...*shrug* i really wanna know how to fix the subtitle problem...and i think it might not just be the subtitles, but the entire image gets cut off at the bottom...
I am having a similar issue with NVE, but with a few mino exceptions. For one thing, when i set nve to transcode episodes of a certain TV series i downloaded in avi format, it will usually get to a certain point and quit with an "illegal operation" message. Sometimes it locks up the whole computer, forcing me to restart manually. the other little tidbit is that i previously used nve to transcode several episodes of the same series in the same format then burned them onto a dvd and the whole thing went off without a hitch! nothing changed about my computer from the time it worked to the time it didn't so why the heck doesnt it work now? grrr.
