okay, i'm soooo suicidal, itz not even funny.

i've been on and off this DVD bull crap for months, and i finally took alot more time and effort.

i've seriously searched the hills and mountains of AFTERDAWN for hours... i've learned alot, but also not found or dont get how to do quite a few things....

according to most people... the cheap and best way to go from AVI to copying them onto DVDz is....
DIVXtoAVI... but wut version? i got the .0232311512 wutever, and it seems to not work that well...
i got the 1.9999999999 version and it keeps bothering me about money.

the problem i have with the .0123211782 version (the free one) is that it gets to a certain point... like 20 minutes into the conversion, and it jus stops... about about AUDIO delay = 437 S... something like that... and when i look into the folder all i see is a ....
    videoXX.vos
so what am i suppose to do? how do i make it so it converts all the way? i've heard of other programs too, but they jus sound too tidieous and tiring.

INSTEAD of having FAQz, like having a million people ask the same dumb questions and answering them... because now afterdawn is just filled with a bunch of crap that no one wants to read...

someone should put together a FRIGGIN GUIDE... seriously. and afterdawn should get rid of useless posts. NOT THIS ONE THOUGH!!! please! hahaha

so...... help me wizards of the DVD world that i still only hope to understand one day.

HOW DO I GET MY FRIGGIN movies on my computer to a DVD that'll play on my dvd player... in EASY, GREAT, STEPS.

because i'm seriously tired of searching and looking, and reading the same crud that i already know, or meaningless to me... with 9+ pages of replies. jus one guide. HELP, or i'll meet you in heaven. . or hell.

thanx for reading my suicide note, tell the police that OJ simpson killed me.

    pond.

dl these prog: virtualdub, tmpg plus, tmpg dvd author
check the sound with virtualdub plus if it is pal or ntsc
then encode it with tmpg plus using the wizard
then take the mpg 2 created through tmpg plus and transform it into vob in tmpg dvd author.

when its done u can use the dvd author to burn it directly.

it work 100% for me. just make sure to check your dvd player if it plays -R or +R. mine played -R and i was burning on +R :-( silly of me. good luck

    okay!!!!!!!!!!
    thanx you guys... alotta help.
but still i'ma newb at heart........................

okay... i dont understand the use of Virtual Dub, and how i'm suppose to use it to see what it is... but since i live in the us, i'm guessing it NTSC......

But the thing is... i went to that website, DOOM9 and did everything it said... seriously. the pictures are very helpful to which settings i should set it to... but when i start encoding the AVI file to the mpg.... it says ANALYZING in the middle of the preveiw screen...
and the remaining time is 11:00:00++++ is that right? 11 hours to encode a friggin movie?

and am i suppose to select ES (video only) when i want sound?

PLUS to make matters worse... it gets 1 minute into encoding and says there's a error... let me show you exactly wut it says:
"write error occured at address 004A7751 of module 'TMGEnc.exe with 00000070"...
    so what does this mean?
and why is the encoding remaining time so long...
and why doesn't it go through all the way. please many question, i need answers. thanx.

open v-dub, file - open video file(select your movie), then click on file again - select file information (if it is 25.000 then the movie is pal if 23.970 it is ntscfilm if it is 29.970 then it is ntsc) these are for your information when you r gonna encode in mpg2. if your sound is ok dont need to decompress your sound, if there is a VBR encoding then its a different situation.

normally your encoding will take a long time (that's what mine use to take before i update my computer). and i believe it would take longer if you want to turn the mpg2 into a VOB for burning as DVD. U would probably have to reconsider doing it in DVD format. now i can do mine in Dvd format it still takes 1-3hours but still better than last time i tried took longer than 20hrs i believe.

plus im new at all these too i still dont know a lot of stuff and plus you freekingly need to be patient and have manners in speaking. we all try to help but if you are rude u cant expect n answer from people. ive help u because im nice n now how awfull it can be as i was there. and no u are suppose to select both not video only. As for the message it is telling u i dont know myself never got it, i still dont know a lot in these things.
