I am looking to make a DVD from homemade clips. I know I can burn them with Nero.. but it doesn't have anything fancy to make it look nice and professional example: themed menu templates, customized menu templates, Motion menus and music menus.

I have been looking for softwear and there is just so much... I am feeling overwhelmed. Especially since I JUST learned how to burn a DVD file with Nero!! Yahhh!! hahaha...

I followed this guide http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/guides.htm On how to 1st convert & Shrink my home movie... SO from there.. what can I do to make an impressive DVD with menus ect...??
    Thanks!!

One of the Best programs arround for makeing Complex DVD"s is "MediaChance DVDLab Pro" but it doesn"t have a Built in Encoder so you will have to encode your Video files to DVD Compliant Mpeg-2 files first before being able to use DVDLab......

If you want something that can do all of this includeing encodeing then maybe check out "Sonic DVDit Pro v6.0" or "Ulead DVD Workshop v2.0" or "Sonic ReelDVD v3.11" or "Sonic DVD Producer v5.0" all of which are fairly High End DVD authoring Programs that support advanced DVD Features Like Multiple audio tracks and Multiple Subtitle Tracks and Motion menu"s and Dolby Audio and have Built in Mpeg encoders but they aren"t as good as useing a Good Quality standalone Encoder Like Tmpgenc or MainConcept or CCE SP....

Also these programs aren"t Cheap so it would be cheaper to buy a Standalone mpeg encoder and DVDLab pro than to buy any one of the Mentioned programs....

    Cheers

I've been looking at the software boxes at compusa nad fry's, and one that looked pretty good was Sony Vegas.

Has anyone tried this program, or have some input?

    thanks!

Sony Vegas Video is Strictly a Video editing Program and has No DVD authoring Capibilities, You can get a program with Vegas Video called "DVD Architect" which is a DVD authoring program that you can use to author Files to DVD.....

I have used Pinnacle Studio. You can usually get it for 50-60 bucks, its powerful yet easy to use. Edits with "hollywood" type extras, authors and burns. I have never had a bad disc, and they look really good.

I have tried Sonic and had problems (that was years ago), but I have use Pinnacle for about 2 plus years now. Currently version 9.

OK I am super lost when it comes to all of this but it isn't stopping me from trying. I have hours of home video that needs to be snipped into scenes and then put together to make a couple of different home videos. I have been trying to use Showbiz DVD which is the biggest most annoying pain in the butt I have ever used. I want something that is easy and I don't have to read any NASA manuals to figure out. I don't care about fancy transitions (not yet anyway) I just want to edit it down and create my movies.

    Thanks for the help.
