Hello, just got a new Digital Recorder and I'm trying to figure out how to put the videos I have taken onto a DVD or CD so that I may watch them and also distibute them to family members so that they may watch them at home on their TVs. I've discovered that I cannot just put them directly onto the disc and watch them because apparently the DVD players do not recognize the format the videos are in (.mov, .asf are the formats). Now do I need to put these in the DivX or Xvid format or some other format? Or do I need to just make them like a regular DVD format or what? Please help because I do not even know where to start. Also, would like to put these videos on the same disc with photos if possible. Thank you all in advance for any help that you can offer! ~Carlvo
some dvd players will play mpeg4 (divx/xvid), but not all (in fact not many...).if you wanna make them 100% compatable with *any* dvd player then you'll need to re-encode them as standard dvd files... if you wanna add pictures in slid show then you'll need to track down some fancy dvd authoring software - i expect 'nero burning rom' would be a good place to start - download the trial edition and see if it does what you want..
