Here's one. I have used ffdshow in the past with good results but vobsub sounds even easier. Just remember to use Windows Media Player or TMPGEnc to encode and your subs must be in sub or srt format:http://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/153058.php

Video___Filters__Add --> Subtitler --> Load a SSA (Substation Alpha file you create from a SRT with 'SRT to SSA converter'. (Check the movie/subtitle sync before).
A very good choice is: Font = Arial 28 Bold; Distance from the borders: 20,20,30 (L,R,Down); subtitle colour: all white.

    1) If you just want an AVI, choose a compression on Video__Compression and do File___Save (F7).

    2) If you want to do AVI --> MPG (ex. AVI --> DVD ) do File___Start frameserver and frameserve to any encoder you use (you'll create a file names: movie.vdr that the encodere will have to load instead of the AVI).

PM your e.mail me for having a fully detailed guide (didn't you see http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/143574).

i tryed the film machine but it says:you have to choose mediafiles with same videocodec, framerate, resolution, audiocodec, audio samplingrate, audio channels and number of audiostreams. if these properties are not the same they can't be merged together. is there a program like the film machine what can merge the avis together if the videocodec,framerate... arent same???
