HI guys! How can capture a still frame from a video..? Cuz i want to make a quality comparison and to do so i need to take the same accurate screenshot from both of my videos... I tried some software here and there but they aren't accurate at all! I've never been able to save the same exact frame from both of my videos... Any idea would be really appreciated!
well, i run Media Player Classic (part of k-lite codec pack) and it has an option to "save image" too... My problem is the accuracy... I've never been able to save the same exact frame from both of my videos...
Okay, now I see your issue clearer, after some sleep! I think Avidemux will give you exactly what you need. You can stop the video and advance/rewind frame by frame. Once you are at the exact frame that you wish, just hit "Print Screen" and save the image:
I don't use VirtualDub, but if it doesn't have an option to save to a picture, the old Print Screen works just fine. YWith Avidemux you can zoom in/out before saving if you wish so.
I've used PowerDVD before but looking at the suggestion of cyprusrom and avidemux I'd go that route. Thanks for posting the avidemux progie cyprusrom. ...gm
Just sharing the knowledge... I know VirtualDub is probably more popular, but I think Avidemux is a must have tool for editing/converting/subtitling/joining...It is an extremely versatile application, various input/output formats...
Download AvsP File--> Open [All Files} Open Your Video. These should be a seekbar at the bottom, use that to seek through your video. Right click on the video and save snapshot. It would also help if you have AviSynth installed on your computer. As well as any necessary codecs needed to view that video.

OK, i finally had "AvsP" to work on my PC! It's exactly what i needed! Can't be more accurate than that! Thanx alot guys for helping me!
Thanks to all for your advice. I am looking for a software tool that will allow our user to turn on the DVD and automatically capture the frames and save the results to a local hard drive in jpeg format. Do any of the tools that you recommend support this requirement?
