I want to edit a .mp4 movie file so that it fits on a DVD without having to re-encode it. I simply want to clip off the final credits for instance to cut the file down a little. Is there a piece of software that will do this without having to spend a couple hours processing? Right now my file is only about 100 MB too big. I don't want to convert to a different format or lower bitrate. Basically I want to open the video, clip off a bit at the end and save it with no other changes. A free program would be nice, but even if it isn't free, anyone know a program that will do it?
See if Avidemux helps. Drag the file onto the window. Set format as MP4 Use the slider and A/B buttons to select the part to remove. On the main menu 'Edit' => 'Delete' to remove the selected clip. Click the 'Save' logo and give the file a new name (including extension) e.g. newfile.mp4 http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/avidemux.cfm
