i would like to no if i can have more space with out more ram and uninstalling things?????? it there anythink i can use
More ram wouldn't give you more hard drive space. The only thing you can do is buy an external hard drive or uninstall items from your computer. There is no other option.
Ram has nothing to do with space. YOu need to add or replace the current harddrive or just buy the external harddrive ( I think you will need usb port to connect to the harddrive and to the pc). If you add more files, you will need more RAM. How many RAM you have anyway?
@johney69 Like 21Q said buying more RAM will not net you more harddrive space. For a easier way to get some harddrive space try simply defragging you harddrive. I highly recommend Auslogics Disk Defrag over Windows XP's built in defragger. And since it is a very small file, less than 1mb I believe, it won't take up much space on your PC. Another tip to clearing up space is if you keep files like program setup files and other files you only need once in a blue moon then put them into zip or rar files at a high compression rate to save space.
peainapod has said some good things, another thing you could to gain some more hard drive space is to put things like music, pictures, video files, on a disk so you won't lose them and thain after you have done that you could deleate the things you put on disk from your hard drive, good luck
I don't have a problem. Did johney69 ask what RAM was for? No. He wants to know "how can i get more space on my laptop with out more ram???" we told joheny that RAM would not give him more space. Then others including myself posted tips on how to gain HD space. You just posted a answer to a question that no one asked.
RAM is for speeding up stuff. GB or MB is how many spaces you used or have left. GB = Giga Bites MB = Mega Bites GB holds more than MB. GB makes me think that it holds less space for some reason. HEHE.
I just wanted to clear it up for him what ram is.I dont know why you had to be such an ass about it :|
Dude, Just Buy a new external harddrive. All you need is USB Port. If you have that, then just get the external harddrive.
True but a external harddrive would have to operate over the USB bus and would be much slower. Adding another harddrive to the pc is the solution to the problem but adding a internal harddrive is the superior option.
PeaInAPod, all laptops i've seen can have only 1 internal hd so 2 options exist, either get bigger internal hd or go external hd.
lol, i feel dumb. Even though I quoted it from the title I never really noticed that we were dealing with a laptop. So xaznboitx you were right a external harddrive probably is the best option for johney69 and thanks ddp for pointing out my mistake; it will keep me for making more under the presumption we are dealing with a desktop.
dont feel too bad, I didnt know he said,"Laptop". All I read was about ram making more harddrive or something.
