Can anyone tell me how to get ReMPEG to read all 6 of the VOB files consecutively without opening them one at a time? The readme text says it is possible to make a file list but I can't seem to do it.
Try ripping the file as one complete vob from the start there is an option for that in smartripper under settings, movie, file splitting choose max flie size That should fix the problem ! Thats how i do it anyway
when you are in ifoedit load the relevant .ifo file and use tools option at he top left, go down to create cffl file and thats all you need. when you open rempeg just open the file that you created and away it goes all the files in one go !!!!
I didn't like the quality that Rempeg produced, plus I got no sound in 2nd half of movie(2nd VOB). So I am now trying TmpegEnc. It has taken 2 days(on high quality) to encode. Does the tools option in Ifoedit work with creating a CFFL with TmpegEnc? P.S. thanks for the response.
I'm unsure if it does as I haven't used tmepeg before , cant be bothered with all this dvd2 avi then encoding I just want to click a couple of times and go. Someone else might know the answer.
neil_sue, I used Rempeg and everything worked but I was very disappointed in the quality. That is why I am trying dvd2avi and Tmpg. Have your movies come out good with rempeg? Perhaps I am doing something wrong.
menmaddi I've used Rempeg on several occasions, and with one exception found the quality very good. However, as with everything in life "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I always tried to keep the "scalefactor" at 80% or higher. As for reading all VOBs at once, Use Ifoedit "Tools" option at the top of the screen, it should create a *.CFFL file for you, with all VOBs. HomerJ, O.K. well my movie wasn't beauty in the eye of a blind beholder. I'll give it another try with Rempeg2 as it seems the faster way to go(I've been wrestling with Tmpg all day). I'll try to play with the settings some more. One thing was curious though, the m2v file that was created was 1/4 of the size of the original VOB files. Does that contribute to the poor quality?
menmaddi, You would certainly expect the resultant m2v file to be smaller than the original VOB, by how much, depends on the scalefactor used. After all, the whole idea of using Rempeg, is to get the overall file size small enough to fit on a single DVD-R. Have you been using a "Bitrate Calculator" to determine what scalefactor you should be using ? HomerJ
I have found that rempeg works very well 95% of the time ( except w/brother logos see other threads ) I always try to keep bitrate as high as possible so 80% to 90% encoding and yes do use bitrate calculator that is available in tools option of ifo edit. I will eventually go to cce but cant afford the $$$$ at the moment dont think about piracy anybody as these forums dont like this.
I tried rempeg again using your suggestions. I pushed up the scale factor to 90% and adjusted bitrate sliders a little. This made the resulting m2v file come out much bigger. I checked the remuxed vobs in a player and the quality was much better. Thank you for the help. I usually burn in nero but I'd like to try using ifoedit to create an image and then use dvddecrypter to burn instead(so I don't have to purchase nero). I am having trouble creating the image. Ifoedit says error. Any insight would be appreciated.
menmaddi, You need to install Imgtool. This can be found in the download section of www.doom9.org When installing, please make sure you install it in the same directory as Ifoedit. HomerJ
HomerJ, Excellent. I downloaded Imgtools. I created *.IMG file, and then used DVDdecrypter to burn the movie. Quality was acceptable. Definately makes the whole procedure a lot more simplistic. I now only need DVDdecrypter, Ifoedit, Rempeg and Imgtools. This was my first backup that required reencoding. I can't thank you enough for the help. I know you've answered all these questions quite a few times. I will keep posting and try to help other newbies. Thanks again, Rob
menmaddi Pleased to be of service. Apologies for not replying sooner, just back from holidays. HomerJ
