how can i put a dvd 9 worth of data on dvd 5

k i have a game that is around 7 or 8 gigs.. and i was wondering if there was anyway i can back up my game to a dvd 5 cause i do alot of traveling and i dont like to take the real dvd with so so it wont get messed up? is this possible? are there anypro programes that will compress it so i can use it on my 4.7 dvd
