hey i have an .iso file and i want to play it on a philips dvd player. Can a philips dvd player read .iso files? Can i just use Nero and burn a data disc with the .iso file or do i have to convert the iso? if i do have to convert the iso, how do i convert and burn using nero 8?

    Another question
i have a video_ts file, can i burn that straight to a dvd using nero (data disc)?
    thanks

thanks for the help but i want to burn an iso file unto a dvd not cd. So i'm guessing that i can't just burn the iso file straight to the dvd? Doesnt Nero have an Iso converter, can't i just use that?
    sorry for any mixups
    thanks

An ISO file is just a container that holds together the files you wish to burn. When you burn this file with either Nero or ImgBurn you will have the files that were in that ISO assuming that the files in that ISO are DVD compliant.

If you have Nero installed, and if that ISO is a DVD Video, just right click the ISO and choose "Open With Nero Burning Rom". It will burn a DVD Video that plays in a standalone DVD player.

CD's can play in dvd movies if formatted right! I have 007 on 3 CD-R's and they play fine!

    Downside: Less Space

No one said you can't put movies on a CD and play them in your DVD player(if it supports CD playback). But like you said, downside...You need 2-3 CDs to put one movie on and preserve some of the quality, when you can put 2-3 movies on a single DVD , and have similar quality as one movie on 3 CD-R...
With the price of a DVD burner nowadays- you can buy a decent one for $25 or so, why mess around with CDs...

I have a slightly different problem.
I created a ISO file from a DVD-RW and now need to burn the movie to a DVD. When I start up IMGBURN, I choose the "WRITE FILES/FOLDERS TO DISC" I tell it the output is a DVD burner and point to the ISO file, it asks me a question I do NOT understand. It is a YES or NO option about do you want to WRITE or BUILD?

I think it is asking me if I want the DVD to have a COPY of the ISO or the MOVIE on the DVD, it has a yes and no answer but I can seem to figure our which is correct. At the startup, it has 6 options and none seem to be what I want to do which is "lay down" the ISO image on the DVD as the VOB movie.

    Can you explain the options?

    thanks

its saying just burn the iso your doing write folders files to disc well it isnt files and folders its an iso 1 file. (although there ar files and folders inside, if a proper dvd video?)

you need write image file (iso) to disc (dvd) tab / button. although just clicking write will maybe sort it for you as its spotted what you are doing wrong.
