If I want to grab a still image from a DVD I'll use Virtualdubmod or VideoRedo. open one of the ripped .vob files in Virtualdudmod and navigate to the particular frame that you want. Hit Shift-1 then select .bmp as the file type and save the frame as a bitmap file. There are lots of other applications that will let you grab a still image from a DVD.

    http://www.videoredo.com/

If you are getting black screen grabs from your app it's probably because the video is being displayed in overlay mode. In your video application uncheck the overlay option. For example, in DVD Shrink, Edit, Preferences, Preview, Select DirectX video renderer, select VMR-9 instead of Default renderer or Overlay mixer. Read here for more info on screen grabs and overlays:

One day amny yers ago I was inquiring at AfterDawn about a application called SnagIt. Several replied to me and suggested another application that was better and it was a shareware or freebie. I've used it for years.

You can capture the whole screen, the open window or just a small portion of what is on the screen.

Well my PC crashed and had to buy a new one. Now I can't for the life of me remember the name of this application.

Can anyone help? I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks
