how do i convert ffds codec to xvid or divx

    ok so ive downloaded a load of files 8gig and they are all in the ffds codec.im just wanting to know how i can convert these films into divx or xvid.i have a stand alone divx player yamada mx-105.i can play these on the pc but am wanting to put them onto dvd preferably a few at a time to watch on my dvd player.ive tried using super video converter but mouth sync etc is out and it looks blurry.any help would be appreciated as its the first time ive downloaded anything in this codec...cheers everyone(crosses fingers)

    ffds is just one of the fourCC's for ffdshow. Don't think ffdshow uses that fourCC for anything specifically so the files could I guess be ffv1, huffyuv, MPEG-4, etc. If they are already MPEG-4, then all you would need to do is change the fourCC to DX50 or XVID.

    hiya matey firstly thanks for the reply.secondly yes i think they are mpeg-4 they are all 1hr 30mins long films but are all only 700mb roughly.so i guess they are mpeg-4.my divx player just says its unknown video and hell it normally plays everything.i honestly dont know what fourcc is or dx50.but changing it to dx50 sound interesting if you could expoand a little on that then il give it a go.im n ot a complete noob i have all the programs but have just never downloaded anything in this codec or whatever its called? cheers again il look into what youve said incase you dont reply
