Im trying this new program called video downloader for firefox. it records streaming video into .flv files that i can play using a flvplayer. how would i convert that to a normal mpg or avi file so i can burn them to a dvd? thanks.

Does it use VP62 or Spark video? There are a few apps that are ffmpeg based, but ffmpeg can only handle Spark. Gabest's flvsplitter filter can handle both and has a VP62 decoder built in. Then you can convert via any app that accepts input via dshow or frameserve with AVISynth using directshowsource().
