how do i copy Movies from my DVD-5's to Hard drive

Hey guys I recently Backed up all my DVD on to DVD-5s...But here's the thing I'm going on a BORING holiday...So how do i copy the Movies from the DVD-5 to my Hard drive thanks! (Like something Simple tut/or w/e)

 

Make sure you have a program to play those files. Dont assume WMP will do it. If you have any problems w/ playback post us back.

 

So I just Can copy and Paste? that's it? Cuz i heard that the Video_TS VOB files won't/can't be copied over is this true?

 

69ers---You cant really do that to a movie with all sorts of copy protection. once you burn it to your disc with no protection at all though, it changes what your computer can do with it if you try to put it back in.

Ohhh...Wicked sick I'm gonna Try this Now Thanks Guys...Btw I got a AVI movie ...But here's the thing , The movie when the Characters talk the Movie doesn't go along with it...Like Example : "I LOVE YOU SON!" then it waits like 2-3 seconds then the persons mouth will move and say I LOVE YOU SOn. HOw do i fix this? Also The Light that shows (the cylinder thing) The Light turns on and stays like that...Is that affecting my movie? Thanks!

 

If you downloaded it like that its probably the source, sometimes movies and videos from torrents or other filesharing can be of questionable quality.
If you had an original that you tried converting to .avi for some reason and that was the outcome, I'm sure someone could help.

 

Get MKVtoonix and launch mkvmerge. Then drag and drop your file on the program.

After that, select the audio stream. On the bottom, you will see "format specific options". Click on this and set the audio delay to 2000 to 3000. Then mux and test. If it sounds off, delete the new file and try again.

If the audio comes before that video, meaning the sound comes then the mouths move, you have to add to the delay value. If the video comes first, meaning the mouths move then you hear the sound, you have to decrease the value. 1000ms = 1 second. You can go negative as well. This will only work for avis/mkv/mp4/ogg/rm etc... Not DVD Video since MKV does not work on DVD Players.

If you have a DVD, you will have to remux the vobs with something like muxman and set the audio delay there. Same rule as with avis on how to set it.

 

Thanks Guys , Now my LAST question is this...How come it takes SOOO long to copy the files from my DVD-5 to my Hard drive...It takes 104 minutes to do it...Is there a program (open source) that can do this? or do i need a Different program to do this. For DVD Video use DVD Decrypter or any other DVD Ripper (see there are legal uses for DVD Rippers). You can use File Mode to have the DVD folder. Anytime you use copy/paste or drag and drop in Windows, it takes a lot longer. Not sure why, but it just does...

For Data discs you can try 1 file at a time "drag and drop" or try something like IsoBuster. I remember IsoBuster was faster than using Windows copy/paste & drag/drop. Possibly MagicISO can also rip CDs & DVDs. I haven't really tried to get more than a ~50MB file from a DVD or CD...

You can also install something like Daemon Tools or MagicDisc. This will allow you to Mount ISOs to a virtual drive. A virtual Drive is sort of like a CD/DVD drive emulator.

You can then use ImgBurn to rip your DVDs in Build mode to create an ISO on your PC. Then use MagicDisc or Daemon tools to mount the ISO to the virtual drive and you can read the files from the Hard Drive rather than the CD/DVD.

The only time I tried to rip a large file to my PC from a DVD was using the ImgBurn/Daemon tools method. It was a 3GB file and it ripped in a couple of minutes into an ISO. For DVD Video I always use DVD Decrypter.
