Hi, I am new to nerovision express 3, and I am trying to burn my videos I download online to play on my dvd player. The burning is fine, and the quality is great, but I can't seem to get my videos to fit on the screen of the television. The video files are 640x480 and it seems as if I can only get to see 580x420. I miss parts of both the top/bottom and the sides; including the subtitles of some of my videos. Can anyone help me? Thanks for your time.
When you're at the 'add video file' screen, down at the bottom there is a box saying 'more'. Click that, then 'video option', then 'dvd-video'. There you can set the aspect ratio and resolution. There are many other useful settings too.
Hello out there....rather new to burning and also useing a computor too....but picking things up....and trying to get to the point I know more than I do now...anyway I keep my aspect ratio ticked at auto....just wondering if I used the settings to chance the size to try and fit it to the full size of a tv screen....which would do it...not wanting to make any more coasters than have already...can some one tell me where to learn which settings to use for which aspect ratios.......that the file was down loaded in... .........THANKS......... I have a couple other issues I would like to try and resolve ..but not sure this is right thread for them...been on this fourm most of the morning trying to see if can find them already posted ...but get side tracked to other issues..hehehe anyway starting to like this fourm here ...as i do have nero and like it..so far...
Hey, thanks for the tip about the ratios. But I now have a new problem. For starters, when I add a 640x480 video, it becomes 704x480 (D1) 4:3, and a 720x480 video becomes 734x480 (D1) 16:9. I then burnt a dvd with the 704x480-file on it, and when watching it on tv, it still cropped the four sides. So I went back to the "more>", and chose 16:9. And when I did that, I could see the whole video, but I now had a 1.5-2in. black margin around the entire image. And the "automatic" mode is no different. Is there some sort of way to get my file to exactly fit on my 32 in. television? Please, if someone can help, it'd be much appreciated.
Dear crzsnwbdr & hopper393, Basically, if you want the movie to fit to a regular TV screen, you should set the aspect ratio to 4:3. Now if it doesn't fit, and you're seeing a resolution problem that Nero cannot handle, then maybe you could try use VSO DivxToDVD (free version) for converting to dvd compliant format instead (force aspect ratio to 4:3) before burning with Nero: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd_free.cfm Post again if this still doesn't work. Hi, thanks for the tip, but it still didn't work. Exactly the same problem occured again. Divxtodvd still cut off the four sides + made a "trial version" label display ontop of my video. What I also noticed was, the force 4:3 is just like the force 4:3 in Nerovision Express 3. So do you have any other suggestions for my video to fit on screen? Also, this is just a problem for my 640x480. What should I do to get my 720x480 (auto 16:9) to fit on screen? Please, can someone help me again? Thanks.
First of all, use the link I provided to get the freeware version of VSO. Second, please check the aspect ratio and resolution of the burnt dvd (final product) and tell us what you got.
I think this actually answers a post I made about 16:9 support in Nero. I assume it has it, so with that in mind to answer the other fella who is wondering why he has black bars at the top and bottom on a standard tv is it is called widescreen/letterbox meaning your source file/movie is in widescreen format and it is natural for u to have these lines show up on your screen. I have a 16:9 HDTV and need a program that supports this aspect ratio. So before I buy nero can someone confirm for me that it is supported by Nero.

@ elliot, Yes, both Nero and VSO support 16:9 aspect ratio. @ crzsnwbdr, You can check with e.g. Nero Recode: Run Nero Recode, click 'copy entire dvd to dvd', then 'import dvd', then go pick the Video_TS folder of the movie, then check the box 'info' at about center of the Nero screen. I'm suggesting you to do this to check whether the aspect ratio or resolution has somehow changed at conversion or burning.
Scf thank you, I loaded a prerelease of premium 7 a friend of mine had and it works pretty good, a little slow and sometimes the voice is out of sync here and there but happy with overall quality. One thing about Nero and Roxio now is bloat to many programs I will never use or already have a prefered alternative they need to get back to basics and just make sure that those programs are stellar rather than bloating them with stuff.
I agree, sometimes it's better to focus on doing a few things right rather than trying to do everything right.
