Not sure what information you might need but I downloaded a movie split into 2 files both just under 700mb. How do I join them? I don't mind the size, quality is the most important thing for me. Using the AVIcodec software it says they were both made with XVID mpeg-4 AC-3 ACM codec. Software I have on my computer: Nero 7 Divx converter 6 TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 WinAVI video converter Will any of these do the trick and if so which is my best bet?
irish80ca, I believe you can use VirtualDubMod to combine 2 avi files. You can find out more information here: http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/articles/article_virtualdubmod_joinavi_page1.html
All those programs will let you join your 2 files except I have never used DIVX Converter 6, so don't know about it. In Nero, after you add your files there is a merge button on the left and here is a burning guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/272946 In TMPGEnc, after you create your mpg and before you author them, go to Files>MPEG Tools>Merge and Cut and add your mpg in the order you wish them. Browse to where you want them, name the new file and select Run. You will have 1 file in about 15 minutes. In WinAvi, this thread explains it: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/421534 Try Nero or WinAvi if you want speed but you won't have a menu.
Incidentally, it's not size that determines the quality but the runtime. Longer runtime = less bitrate = less quality. Generally, I use about 2 hours - 2 1/2 hours as the cutoff on a DVD-5.
