How do i lock my hard drive?

i've downloaded ConfigMagic. i have Xecuter2.0L, EvoX v1.8.3935, and a Maxtor 120g hdd. i am unsure on how to lock my hdd and cannot seem to find a forum or tutorial on how to use ConfigMagic. Can someone please help me?

 

The locking feature should be in your modchip's OS, get to the OS and look around.

 

You'll have to generate a locking password. I'm not positive how to do this in Config Magic but if you can do it from a PC here is a pretty straight forward tutorial: http://www.supertrick.net/tutorials/softmod003.asp

load configmagic, click start, it will launch, you will see a menu stating dvd drive model etc etc, and if the hdd is locked,
click start for a sub menu, select lock
this will lock your drive,the whole process takes just a few seconds, if its not lockable, it will tell you so (not too many hdd arent lockable for an xbox, but there are a few)
if I was you too, write down the hdd info and password etc, just in case something happens to your mobo. If it does you can still unlock the drive on your PC.
Note too that unless you use XBOX LIVE there is no need at all to lock your xbox hard drive.

I want unlock my xbox hdd so I can format it and use it in my pc. can configmagic do this?
is configmagic a pc tool or xbox tool?
do I need the hhd password to unlock? how do I get the password, I'm using Avalaunch dashboard, not evolutionX.

Configmagic runs on a modded xbox
you can unlock a drive that was locked on the motherboard you are using, ie if you have a hard drive on your xbox, that was LOCKED or a retail drive off that very same xbox, then you can unlock it with configmagic (unless you have a version 1.6 xbox)
open congigmagic, press start, this brings up a sub menu, choose hdd locking, and click unlock drive.
when its done, take out your hdd
then change the jumpers to "master"
on the drive
have a windows98 boot floppy ready
make sure your pc bios is set to load floppy as first boot drive.
take out your pc hard drive, put in your hard drive from the xbox (as a master drive, primary ide)
put in the floppy (win98 boot disc)
reboot the pc
when it boots up
type fdisk
you need to create a primary DOS partition on the hdd
when you have done this
format the hdd
it can now be used on a pc
put in your other drive (original pc drive)
and youre all set

 

How Do i unlock a drive if i dont have the origianl xbox
present anymore. I have not use for the drive other than
for this old pc..
