I have an Audiovox PPC4100 and would like to know how I can play Mp3 or video. It does have an SD card slot. Does anybody have the guide? Thanks.
The pre-installed OS for your PPC should be Microsoft Windows Mobile for Pocket PC Phone Edition 2003. It should have Windows Media Player already installed, which can play MP3s directly from your SD card. Just make sure you create a subdirectory called "My Documents" on the SD card. The Pocket PC OS can only see files under that subdirectory. If for some strange reason your PPC does not have Windows Media Player, you can download it for free from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...c5-a7ac-4a6b-a037-64f8c8def172&displaylang=en Windows Media Player can also play back video files, but only if they are in .WMV format. You can convert most video files to .WMV using the windows media encoder, available for free download from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...02-e496-465a-bba9-b2f1182cdf24&displaylang=en Same restriction as MP3 files - they will have to be in a "My documents" directory.
Thanks. Yes, it has Windows Media Player 9 Series. But since I will only be playing MP3 and video from and SD card, I don't need to do the Activesync, do I? And can you please tell me how I can create a subdirectory on the SD....sorry I am new to this. By the way, have you tried playing MP3s on the PPC4100 or other pocket PCs? I was wondering how good or bad the sound is and how it compares to say....like an IPOD. Thanks Again.
The Audio quality is very good. However, the PPC is not designed to be knocked about like the ipod so I would think twice about using it as a replacement. Google "pocket pc freeware" and download a mp3 only player or go to http://tcpmp.corecodec.org to get a good mplayer for music and DIVX files.
