Im trying to backup The Matrix..The edition with all sorts of "special features and additional enhancements for DVD-ROMs". It has three versions of the full movie, one with music only, one with a narration and finally the normal movie- all on one disc, and various other special features. I opened it with shrink and attempted to re-author and compress it but I'm just not sure how to handle all those titles. Does anyone bother with DVDs like these? Shrink works great for taking parts out but what parts should I put back in (besides the main title)? Should I just experiment some more? What would you do with this?
Just put back in the parts that you want to have in addition to the main movie. I would just leave all of those extras out though...your main movie can be higher quality of you don't use disc space up for extras. Follow these guide for DVD Shrink (and reauthor): http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/user_guides.htm
personally, I would only select the main title and leave the rest of the extras out as otherwise the quality of the main movie will not be the best you can get. you could always burn a second dvd with the extras only, dvdshrink should be able to help with this
I had a hell of a time with the Matrix. I started with DVD Xcopy Platinum- wouldn't unpack the movie. I then went to the old tried and true combo- DVD decrypter - dvd shrink - burn at once. I couldn't even get the Matrix past the Decrypter (latest) stage. This movie is a weird one....
Thanks everyone! I've managed to burn three different compilations using shrink and Nero Express. I'll be happy with that for now. Could not get Nero 6 burning rom to work though.
Well, first see the end of this mail on dvd in nero 6. secondly, if the dvd is the original matrix, try watching the movie backup and let me know if the sceens are repeated, like the first one with Trinity, this is an issue with 'extra' files on the dvd. hey, if it plays ok, no problem... Check out this guide from Oriphus; http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/nero.htm I used it to sort out my issues; see excerpt from previous post: I finally got around to burning with Nero 6, according to the settings outlined in your guide. While the outlay is different in the newer Nero version, using the same modes and settings definately works, I just selected what settings were available, so; Select DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO) mode for new burn Select 'No Multisession' ISO Tab: File name length: Max. of 31 chars (ISO Level 2) Character set: ISO9660 (standard ISO CD-ROM) DO NOT select 'Joliet' Allow Path depth of more than 8 directories Allow more than 255 characters in path. UDF tab: UDF partition type: Physical partition File System Version: UDF 1.02 Do not select Force DVD compatability mode for x-box Burnt at 2.4x. I'm not sure what settings I had before (I think it may have been settings in the ISO screen) but anyway this worked perfect.
Hi magnetic, Well I did get Matrix burned however I just used DVD X copy express and did the thing in two discs wich defeats the purpose of trying to get all those features to work. I settled for what I could get. I couldn't "follow the white rabbit" to the special effects titles as most of these were on the second disc. As far as getting my Nero6 ultra edition burning ROM to work I keep getting an error about my files not being video compliant or something to that effect. It's probably just the way Im dragging my files out of VIDEO_TS, for some reason I have a problem with that. Maybe I'll delete it and start over. Im also going to find a shorter, simpler movie to experiment with also. Thanks again to everyone here at this forum, its enjoyable to come here and browse through the posts and see what everyone else is doing! bye all, Frank
Select DVD Video instead of UDF/ISO in Nero 6, better compatability on standalones. Also, remove everything you don't want, personally i remove all subtitles & just keep main audio track, then select compression if required. Or, remove all the unwanted stuff, run DVD Shrink without compressing, compress with DVD2one. Trial & error.
