In a video_ts folder on my hard drive, how do I stream several movie, .vob files together?
I know I can use DVD decrypter to do it from an Actual DVD, but how do I do with files already ripped to the hard drive?

Can it be done using Nero? or point me to some other programs.

I looking to have the movie encoded into only 1 .vob file so I can re-encode it as an MP4 and put it on my PSP.

    Thanks

hi qwik4a6 welcome to AD. the program I have used is dvd shrink. You can add vob files, shrink down to the size you want and best of all its free. If you look in the guides section you will find a tutorial on how its used. I suggest trying it out as you will find it easy to use.

    matt,

I haven't used Shrink, but can you take lets say 10 or so .vob (VTS) files from the same movie and combine them into one large .vob (VTS) file?

Thats what I am looking to do.

    qwik4a6,

yes you can add those. Are you trying to burn the entire movie or just clips? They will not join together so that you have 1 large vob file. VOB files are about 1g apiece so the average movie doesn't have 10 vob files (I understand that may have been just a number you typed or it's ummm..a "mature" movie). The total number of vob files actually are the movie itself not 1 large file. The video_ts is the actual folder which contains the files that make up the movie.

http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/software.htm there is a link with bbmayo's guides and they are great and user friendly. Let me know if any of this is of help to you. Forgot to mention a dvd shrink guide is included in the link. You can dl the program from here in the software section or on the home page on the right side with the most popular dl (well worded something like that). Also if you are doing an actual movie make sure the vob are in the correct order such as:

    1_01, 1_02, 1_03, etc.

    matt,
I guess I'm not explaining it correctly, I'm trying to create a Video_TS file with only 1 video file in it. So I can directly convert that one file into an single MP4 movie file. (So I can play it on my PSP), and I wish it was porn!! HAHA!.
You see, I can do it with DVD Decrypter, but only if I rip directly from a DVD and fiddle with the settings. I'm looking for a way to do it with a Video_TS file already ripped to my HD, that has multiple files in it already. You see, I think they are broken down by chapters and the such, I want just one of them. Because if I encode them indiviually, they will act as seperate files on the PSP, kind of like a whole bunch if mini-movies....
Can I do this with DVD Shrink? or any other programs you can think of.

    Thanks for the help.

ok i got you now. All you need to do is choose the vob files you want and run them through shrink. You can fiddle with the setngs in dvd shrink and get it small as possible. But the more compression naturally the more you may lose quality. After you have the files you want and have ran them through dvd shrink to get the smallest output (they have a preview screen where you can check the quality and determine what the smallest size is before you lose picture clarity). After you have ran them through shrink there is a few programs for converting to avi format (believe the psp will support that type). winavi is good and has a trial but I suggest using dvd2avi and its offered here on AD for free in the software section.

TO answer yur question you will only get one file from the vobs if you run them through shrink and then convert to the appropriate format. In your video_ts folder you will only get 1 file if it is under 1.4g. Anyway you put it if its more than one clip then there is no way without conveting to avi to get 1 file.

I suggest you look at the psp forum as someone may have done what you are asking and found an easier way but I doubt it. I will pm someone who has done it and have him give a go at seeing if I answered your question.

    Matt,
Thanks for the help, I will give it a shot using shrink once I get home later today.
I'm not worried about converting the one file to PSP format (MP4). It's just trying to get the original Video_Ts files down to one large file (without directly using the DVD), compressed or not, is the main problem.

Let me know what your buddy says...

    Thanks again.

you can use VOBEdit and IFOEdit to do this. I saw a guide on how to merge "flipper" discs (dual sided) to one keeping all the menus and extras, whole movie as 1 titleset. See if you can find it, I'll see if I can dig it up and post back if I can find it.

thanks squizzle for helping out. I was trying to keep it simple cause I believe its better to start with one program. vobedit has given trouble in the past.

@qwik4a6 yu can also try canopus procoder as I've had great success with joining files and shrinking with dvd shrink. The only drawback is it's not free and takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to join vobs, convert and you have everything in 1 folder.

I actually just tried that method in the link I posted and it seemed to work ok, but I tried to open CloneDVD to compress it and as soon as it started to read the files it errored out. Shrink did the same thing. So I think maybe the guide was missing something. I actually saw a different one that involved the same programs but you had to do a couple of extra steps, something with the VOB Cell ID. I didn't get that one to work either though.

So at this point I'm stumped as well. It would be great to be able to do this for movies like Goodfellas or Seven or Sleepers that come as DVD-10 (flippers).
