how do i transfer files from my laptop to my tower

    External hard drives work real well. Or, if it isn't too much data, a DVD will work well.

    Or, if the computers are networked, you could do it that way.

    If you want to connect 2 computers together and you don't have a router or network multiport adapter, you can use a "crossover" network cable. Just make sure it's a "crossover" not a regular cable. This cable will plug into the LAN connector on your computer (every newer computer made laptop/desktop has a LAN plug).

    Then you just open up "my network places" and setup your computer for network sharing, after that you need to rightclick on the folders/or entire hard drive that you want to share on the network and choose "share this folder on the network".

    As far as I can remember, CAT-5 and later cables don't need to be crossovers to work like this.

    Radio shack sells a pc to pc transfer cable. All you need to do is install the cd program, connect the cable (usb to usb) and transfer. I own one and use it to transfer from time to time.

    nah just use the router I am pretty sure he gots a router because he has two computers...
