How do i turn a divx into something i can burn with nero?

I got a divx file for a movie i have. How do i make it so i can burn that useing nero or 1 click dvd?

 

Run 'Nero Vision' > 'Make DVD' > 'DVD Video' and either browse to or drag the file onto the window and proceed to burn.

 

Well that answer depends if you want to simply burn the DivX file onto a disc (to play on PC or DivX DVD player) or create a disc that can be played on regular DVD players?

 

That's fair comment, except that if you simply wanted to burn it to the disk as data, then the post heading would be redundant.

 

its not a video file like avi. Its a divx file and it squite big how do i make it so i can watch it in my home dvd player?

Do you have a DivX DVD player? If you do just rename the extension to avi and burn it as a data disc. If you don't have a DivX player, then your only option is to recode as attar suggested.

 

I actually do its hooked up to my tv. Which quality is better divx changed to .avi or the other way ?

 

Definitely leave it as DivX with the extension changed to avi. Anytime you re-encode something, some quality will be lost.

Just one question... You said it was quite big. Just how big do you mean? Is it more than 4.35gb?

Turn into something = modify= alter=convert.
From the way the title was worded, it looks like the OP was asking about how to convert the Divx into something else,to watch it on his DVD player, and that something else would only be a DVD compilation. It is a no brainer, if you have a Divx player and a Divx video, then no "transformation into something" is needed.

If you have a certified Divx player, and want to play a movie in a divx container,shouldn't have to change the extension to Avi.

 

You may want to research a bit deeper before you try to prove my posts inaccurate.

a DivX file with the DivX extension can only play on DivX Ultra certified devices. Regular DivX certification only plays DivX from an avi container. Luckily enough the DivX container is backwards compatible, meaning you can simply change the extension to avi and it will play on a player with standard DivX certification.

Also, we all know that people sometimes don't word things as clearly as we would like. I had enough insight to read between the lines, which in the end I was proven right. So, cyprusrom what exactly are you trying to say?

Like you said, without meaning to cause any tension:~), I would say that you were not correct in your last statement,and I was only half right in my previous statement.

A divx container does not play only in a Divx Ultra Certified device,like you stated.It will also play in some regular Divx Certified players, just not be able to use the extra features of the divx container. There is backwards compatibility of .divx format, but that does not mean just simply tricking the player by renaming to avi. The player doesn't just read the "extension". There might be some players that will not play the .divx extension but play okay if simply changed to avi(generally older players). However, that is not a "general" fix.Some old players will not play the divx container at all,even if you rename it to avi. It will not play unless you "re-wrap" it into an AVI container(which could be done in a couple of minutes with Avimux Gui, for example.

There is "partial backwards compatibility with AVI, so that players that do not support the new features available to the .divx container format(the Ultra features) (like interactive menus, chapter points and XSUB subtitles) can at least play that primary video stream (usually the main movie if the .divx contain multiple video streams like special features like bonus materials)."

 

cyprusrom, first of all... I have no idea why you came here on behalf of attar looking to prove me wrong.

In regards to the DivX Ultra backwards compatability, I was passing on information that I gained from the DivX website itself. Of course I knew that it would only play the primary video/audio stream as that is what an avi container is capable of. The DivX container is what supports the advanced interactive features as you mentioned.

I saw a post in which I felt maybe, just maybe the information given may not be exactly what the OP was after. Which turned out that my instincts were right. Is this what I get for trying to help someone?

First, my appologies if somehow you felt that my initial message was meant "against" you. I wasn't writing in behalf of attar or anyone else but myself. My message was actually meant for the original poster, cac(member). It seems that, even though he is been hanging around AD for a while, still has problems asking a proper question, which leads to a waste of time and space, since is given an improper answer.

This was just a poorly worded post, but I have seen too many idiotic posts were people can't put two english words in the proper sequence, to make a simple question.

You are actually fortunate that Ryu77 read your message from a different angle, otherwise you could've spent a few hours going through an unnecessary process of converting to DVD. Must write better.

 

Yes I agree with you cyprusrom. I have seen this happen many times. I even find myself often repeating an answer on the same thread that I had already given to someone else. It is because of this I have learnt to read between the lines.

I believe people come here for help because they aren't as knowledgeable as you or I. I always keep this in mind when I answer posts and I like to be as clear as possible giving as many alternatives as possible that may apply to the given situation. :-D
