Hey I have SBC Global DSL and I was wondering how I can change my IP address. I heard if you turn off you modem for a half hour it will format your ip address. Is this true?

generally, you have to contact your isp to change your ip address. on broadband, you ip is static--never changing. unlike the dynamic ip of dial-up. at least, i believe that's the way it works--i'm stuck on dialup.

if you did not type in a set of numbers in your internet options which is for static ips than you have a dynamic ip number that changes each time you start up windows.

    i had pipex!
you have an option if you want a dynamic ip or a static ip!
if you have a dynami ip your ip will change each time you connect to the internet!
static ip's will stay the same!
