How do you copy the menu and features?

I'm 3 days new to copying dvd's...I can copy the actual movie but how do you copy the menu and features from a dvd to a dvd-r? Is it possible?

Well I just got a Sony Vaio system with a dvd recorder built in....I am copying the movie with a program called DVDX Express.

 

While you are waiting why don't you read some of the other posts.

 

Been at this for a week; here's what works for me..

- use DVD decrypter to copy all files
- use InstantCopy with hidden settings activated to cut out unwanted subtitles and compress down to (less than) 4.7GB
- use InstantCopy to burn the disk

Takes average of 20 mins to decrypt and 2hrs to burn, but all those I've done so far have been perfect 1:1 copies, all menus and features.

InstantCopy (included in InstantCD/DVD) is fairly inexpensive. DVD decrypter is free!

I trawled through the forums here, saw this as being a worthwhile solution, bought/downloaded the software and have had excellent results from the start.

So there is a way to make a copy of a full DVD, which would normally take 2 DVD's with a program like DVDxCopy, into one with compressions tools?

I use XPress whenever DVDxCopy wants to copy a DVD onto 2 DVD's.

DVD decrypter and InstantCopy produce 1:1 copies for me, I can't see any real loss of audio/visual quality or lack of features. It's the hidden settings from http://www.mrbass.org/instantcopy that makes all the difference for when you need to compress dual layer source onto single layer copy.

 

I use similar procedure as dgesster. But the new DVDxpress, version 3.0 and later have a tinny check box that allows for an entire disc copy. This for some dvd`s will be two discs and other smaller ones only one disc. I think what they did is reincorperated DVDxCopy into DVDxPress. So the advantages of both programs are in the newer versions.
Other method you may read here is first DVD Decrypter, then TMPG Enc dvd author, then DVD shrink, then Nero or what ever to burn.

 

There are 2 methods I reccommend. You can do both with only DVD Shrink, and DVD Decrypter, both downloadable free.
If your DVD is over 4.7 GB: Use DVD Shrink and follow the DVD Shrink guide on this webpage. Once you have the image on a folder named VIDEO_TS on your Hard Drive, you can burn the image to a DVD using DVD Decrypter.
If your DVD is under 4.7 GB: Make the image using DVD Decrypter. Change to Write mode, and burn the image to your DVD. Use the DVD Decrypter guide on this website for more info.
