I received a DVD from a friend and put it in my computer to compress in DVD shrink, it analyzes fine, but then when I compress it, I get an error at about 56% on every attempt. So this local record store has this professional CD/DVD polishing service, you give it to them and they use this crazy huge machine that will take out any scratch or tarnish. But they charge like 3 bucks, and I don't really want to pay 3 bucks to repair it, nor do i want to go to the record store today... I really am not sure how to describe the damage done to the disc in words, I can post a picture of it later, if needed. I am just wondering how I can repair a disc with some household items without going out and buying a disc doctor thingy. Thanks a lot for any help you can offer.
Depending on how bad the scratch is, a pc mag i have says to use brasso, but to get used to doing it use it on a not so important disc. I would just spend the 3 bucks.
Yeah, I went ahead and paid to have the blemishes removed. It fixed 3 out of 4 discs i was having problems with. Thanks for the help.
