Hi there, How does Cinemacraft Encoder compare, in terms of movie quality and movie size, (not money lol - XviD being free)? thanking you in advance. njoy!
this is not a fair comparison. xvid is mpeg 4 and cce is mpeg 1 or 2 if i'm right mpeg 4 is derive from mpeg1 but does thing more efficient and extra features. given the same source, mpeg4 will beat any of those 2 in terms of quality and file size. at high bitrate, mpeg 2 should be on top. i could be wrong.
K thx for pointing that out thx. Here's another question? Is this thinking right :-? Mpeg 1 = VCD Mpeg 2 = SVCD MPEG 4 = DVD Also, is XviD the best Mpeg 4 codec, again in terms of filesize & quality :-? thx in adv.
vcd and svcd is correct, but dvd isn't. dvd is also mpeg2. it just dvd uses resolution 720x480 for NTSC and svcd uses 480x480. both are mpeg2, svcd just have some limitation but quality is at least 2 times better than vcd. comparing size mpeg4 and mpeg1, for example both at 100MB, the picture/video quality of mpeg4 will look better if done properly.
Have a dig around the glossary section here - it'll fill in most of the gaps quite nicely. In many cases a variety of compression formats can be recorded to CD and or DVD - it's more a matter of capacity versus quality and what you want to play it on. Cheers!
XviD is a codec. CCE is an application. MPEG4 is a classification of codecs for AVI files. DVDs use high bitrate MPEG2. Read up: http://www.hazza.dsl.pipex.com/faq.htm#VIDEO
